Basic qualifications to become a police officer.

Being a police officer brings with it many responsibilities and challenges.  Police officers protect society and strive to safeguard people from crime and violence.  To become a police officer you must have a strong desire to serve and protect.
 
It is a very rewarding career.  To enforce the law requires dedication and desire.  You join the ranks of many past guardians of civil law and you become a role model to many people.  The job is not an easy one and will be a physical and mental challenge every day.
 
To protect the life and property of others is one of your main responsibilities.  The law and the courts provides your support and give you the authority to complete your duties.  The police officer keeps a check on the bad elements of society and knows how to respond to an emergency.
 
Apart from becoming a city, county or state police officer, you can also serve in law enforcement with the Marshall Service or the FBI.  Requirements and duties differ from each department, but the goals are always the same. The opportunities in law enforcement are unlimited and the various fields are always in need of good people.
 
 

Federal police jobs.

You can apply with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Office of Law Enforcement.  As an agent with this department your duties are to preserve wildlife habitat, promote conservation, save endangered species, manage ecosystems and enforce threats to wildlife.
 
Law enforcement with US Fish and Wildlife gets involved with animal smuggling, exploitation of protected species, protect wildlife from environmental hazards and protecting the habitat of endangered animals.  Agents help train state and tribal enforcement officers, plus assist in the public knowledge of wildlife conservation.
 
To become a Fish & Wildlife Service Special Agent you must be between the ages of 23 to 37 years old, be a U.S. citizen with no criminal record and have a 4 year bachelors degree.  If you are accepted for the position of agent, you will attend 18 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in Glynco, Georgia.
